Medina High School provides unparalleled learning opportunities through personalized education.
Innovation and Achievement
Medina High School provides its students with one of the best educational opportunities in the state and offers educational space for 2,400 students. The technological advancements to the building allow the high school to provide a thoroughly modern learning environment where students and community members benefit from partnerships with the City of Medina, the Medina County Performing Arts Foundation, the Medina Community Recreation Center, Medina General Hospital, and the University of Akron.
Personalizing Education
When planning for a high school that would have a student population of 2,400 the school district directed planning efforts toward creating smaller learning communities that would help achieve a personalized education for each student. Through the renovation and expansion of the high school, it was redesigned to facilitate a “school-within-a school” concept. Students in grades 9-12 are divided into two neighborhood areas. Students remain in their neighborhoods all four years, working with a consistent team of administrators and guidance staff.
While we work to have students stay in their neighborhood for the core academic classes, they share art, music technology education, and physical education facilities that are centrally located. This careful configuration of space and resources allows students the benefits of both an intimate and small school environment.
A Tradition of Excellence
Medina High School continues to enjoy a statewide reputation for excellence. Last year the state of Ohio rated Medina High School as an "Excellent" school. This identification came as a result of the school's performance on the State of Ohio Building Report Card. Our comprehensive four-year high school provides a commitment to academic, artistic and athletic excellence. Additionally, the student body actively enhances the community through a wide variety of volunteering and leadership opportunities.
